Thanks for the reminder, Frilly. Years ago one of my then dogs snapped off the fans of a newly planted daylily at the crown. So much for that daylily! (There was no fencing around the daylily bed.)

The thought occurred to me the other day that I should make some sort of wire collar to go around the dormant and SEv-almost-dormant clumps, so my current dog isn't tempted to run through there in the winter with the result of snapped off fans. He does enough damage in the garden as it is! Glare (Last year he "divided" an overgrown clump of 'Beautiful Edgings'. I now have three smaller clumps there.... Rolling my eyes. )

I am thinking that maybe 3-4" high of the green vinyl coated garden fence ought to not be too visible, yet be enough to discourage him to run through/over the spot. I will just have to make sure that - just as with the (few) despised gopher baskets - I don't end up tripping on them and half killing myself!
