freedombel said:We had a beyond gorgeous Butterfly Bush, it was lavender and here is a picture, but sadly it died last winter.
We had a dry winter and the bush had not been drenched good at the end of the season so it never made it, it was always loaded with butterflies and bees. So here at our new house we planted one just like the previous one at the old house. And it was getting butterflies and Hawk Moths. I also sliced up oranges and put into a dish and not one butterfly went for it.

you're not the only one who lost bb last winter, I had a few going in my butterfly garden and I took cuttings of a few diff colors early in the season from a friends garden and they all took off and grew and flowered like crazy, they were in great shape and all but one died over the winter, I was so mad!!! I've heard that many people had the same problem, too cold and not enough snow to insulate them maybe?? Shrug!
