Outside of getting your whole neighborhood's contiguous block, street, etc., involved in fireant eradication all at the same time, (this was advice from a pest control company), fireants are resilient pests and as other posters have stated, they'll just divide and conquer once again......but for immediate relief I can certainly offer what helps me............ants (including fireants) HATE the smell of cloves......I actually had the fireant varmints in my mailbox once and placed a cottonball soaked in clove oil.....in just 24 hours they fled for the hills (probably my next door neighbor--sorry Jimmy) but they were GONE-GONE and 2 years later have not been back! I would suggest a cotton ball soaked in clove oil placed in your pot is definitely worth an organic try.....it certainly isn't going to hurt your plant.......I've also soaked anthills with a few drops of clove oil and they disappear, too..........the clove oil I buy is available at our local HEB as well online......it's also good for toothaches and gum irritations.....as well as breath freshener.....who would have thought??? Fresh breath-----dead ants!!! Hilarious!
