For fire ants in containers, i flood them out with water. I have the hose in one hand and a spray bottle in the other hand that is filled with a mix of soapy water and about 15 drops of cinnamon oil. The ants start running out and down the container side and as they do, i spray them with the soapy mixture. This will kill them but not always immediately (it may take a few minutes for them to die), I like the idea of clove oil and think i will start to add some to my mix.
