Guys, I have to say, I hate a fire ant with a passion. They are a blight on on the face of the earth. I know y'all will think I'm awful, but before gas got so high, the best way I had found to get rid of the little devils was to take a gallon of gasoline and a long sharp stick. I'd pour it down the ant hill jobbing the hill as deeply as I could while pouring. The gas killed them as they boiled up. Jobbing deeply with the stick let the gas sink deeply into the best. When all gas was poured into the nest, I'd stand way back, wait a few minutes then light a chunk of wood or something that I could keep lit, and chunk it on that anthill. Boom! It would poof up, then it would burn an hour or more, but no more ants there, and it got them all. Of course, I couldn't do this near my plants or the house. But I despise them!
