Great thread! Haven't had a plague but it seems I lose a couple plants each year, my solution is to scatter worm castings and homemade compost in spring. This is supposed to help with general health.
I fear things like aster yellows and rosette virus but just try to keep an eye on things and pull if it happens. Not yet but knock on wood.
