My new additions from the Lambertsons will just have to soak another day while I start from scratch on the mix. I was wondering way my Maryott order was looking so bad. I dug them up...so to speak, and the roots where all growing on top Grumbling Thank goodness for pine fines, Everyone will have some new mix by this afternoon, well at least the new arrivals and Maryotts.

My Lambertsons plants look great, one a bit small, but in the description, it says makes small fans.

That's a lesson it seems everyone has to learn the hard (or laborious) way! Sorry for the work but at least you caught it all now before any real damage happened. I had really good luck with ProMix BX as a growing medium straight out of the bale but I have found that it has a very bad tendency to contract/compact as it dries. I can't recall off the top of my head how much peat is in that mix but I am fairly certain that is the culprit. As it is, I find that I can get a good growing season out of it but that second year is just asking for trouble.
