There is a lot that goes into the color representation of a photographed daylily. I generally opt for seeing as many photos as I can before I decide. With a new intro that may not be anything more than the hybridizer's image and you have to roll with it. I can generally tell when things have truly been 'shopped as opposed to photographed under optimal conditions. Oddly enough, I find that most of the photos I like I snapped with my phone rather than my camera. Try as I might it seems like a quick snap is better. C'est la vie.
That said, I try to be careful with blues. This is a photo of BLUE DARLING straight off my phone.
The eye often is that slate blue color. Not every bloom (early ones were more variable) and not in direct sunlight.
