I think unless you are going to grow daylilies commercially you will be fine with native soil and alfalfa pellets. As the years go by you can continue to improve your soil. Daylilies are not normally all that fussy, and will normally do well in native soil if is halfway decent.
I am expecting in two small orders and I was so excited to be out prepping the beds, I made up my labels dug in compost and added a little fertilizer, now just waiting on the plants.
