Autumn Joy Sedum - Sedum (Hylotelephium spectabile 'Herbstfreude') is a succulent like plant and I don't think the cuttings would need to be in soil for shipping but I wouldn't just place them loose in a box where they'd be moving around because of the probability of broken stems during transit. I'd gently wrap the cuttings in paper towels and then in newspaper, taping the paper towels and newspaper to enclose the cuttings.

Now, I have to admit that I've never shipped Autumn Joy cuttings but I have shipped other plants and cuttings in this manner and it's worked just fine.
