Certainly, you could keep the panel as a whole piece. I cut them right down the middle of the length because I didn't think a rose or vine would cover that much of the panel, but you are correct that there are many roses (especially grown up north) that have a very nice wide spread and would be beautiful grown across a 50" width! If you were to do that, I would suggest using 4" x 4" wooden posts instead of the smaller wooden landscape timbers.
