Personally, I find Dave's above method the most handy when I'm both adding a plant to my list, and filing a report at the same time.
Because my records are never as complete as I wish they were, I'm often filing multiple reports at once, and it is faster to do them from my list that way. But adding a new plant saves me steps to start from the database.
I'm all about efficiency, you know!
