Stormy - I'm thinking it might be that I get the stuff directly from the Mushroom Farm, it's very peaty with an odd odor I can't even describe. It's completely different texture and look than what you buy in the bags at the store so maybe they "process" the bagged stuff?
Thanks Chris, they do seem much happier and are growing big like they should. Adding color to the beds is the best thing about them, I agree. I think that's why the color of Caramel is my favorite - it just stands out. Although I really like Tiramisu too for it's great color. This one's in my last bed to improve. I worked on it last summer but I think it still needs more amending. Ugh!
