Melissa, I took you seriously when you recommended cutting back some adeniums. I did one of mine 5 days and 4 days later, the new sprouts started!
Here are the new sprouts--you will have to look closely!
I have 6 adeniums, but only this one had branches sticking straight up with no side branches. Guess I solved that! Thanks for the recommendation
