I grow comfrey in my veggie patch and use the leaves for mulching around the tomato plants. It keeps bugs away (grasshoppers seem to hate it) and it puts nutrients back into the soil.

Dry the leaves, pulverize them and use the powder on scrapes and wounds for both humans and my horses. To dry the leaves, I thread them up using a needle and hang them up out of the weather.

My homemade recipe for fresh horse and human wounds is to grab a few fresh leaves right off the plant, add some manuka honey and mash together in a mortar and pestle until you get a paste. Then spread it on the wound and use a non stick bandage over the top then wrap. Remove in 24hrs and the wound will be clean.

I use it as a hair conditioner too. The only thing I don't do is eat it or make tea with it. I use nettle for that.

I use comfrey for so many things it's ridiculous.
