actually we have not. We have only recently started to get any type of rain. We have been having the other problems. It has been so dry here and when it rains, it rains hard so it really does not penetrate much beyond the surface of the soil.

A couple of days ago, I went out to water my deck boxes and containers and I noticed that my one shade bed had weepy heuchs and brunnera. I may even have lost the fern that I had planted in there - not positive about that one yet. I did give them all a good long drink with the hose and I was very glad to see the tiarellas, hechs and brunnera bounce back. Time will tell on the fern though.

Ironically last year, it rained every single day and this year, we have the complete opposite. ABC News said the other evening, that the second half of the summer is going to be hotter than the first half. They did not quote temps or anything, but said the worst is yet to come - We will see what Mother Nature throws our way.
