I grow a number a mini hosta and have never found them to be invasive. If a clump gets a little larger than I want I just take a piece off. ......Many mature plants, ornamental grasses, iris, hosta, salvias, etc. die out in the center and benefit from being divided and the vigorous growth on the exterior of the clump replanted.......Just MHO
