I haven't seen any of the Painted Buntings yet, even just coming through! But then, it's been a slow spring for a lot of things. No such luck with the Brown-headed Cowbirds, however...they're here, probably laying eggs in the nests of the other kinds of birds. I'd been hearing a certain distinctive bird call and seeing dark birds hiding in the thick foliage of juniper trees. Couldn't remember for sure what the cowbird call was, so I found it on the net and yep, it was exactly what I was hearing! Today, I saw a few of them clearly, but didn't have my camera with me.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
