Name: Bonnie Sojourner Harris Brake Lake, Arkansas (Zone 7a) Magnolia zone
The storm went to the south of me. I got a lot of sound and fury but no hail... thankfully. And no storms. There is a front at the western edge of the state but it does not look damaging at this point. Hope all the folks in Illinois are safe. I HATE tornadoes!
It was very hot today. Almost 90 and with a strong south wind. The little irises just curled up, some of the stalks bent over like a swans neck and little shindig opened three blooms and were curled inward by noon. It is not in a pot and in the full sun. It was too hot for it today. Haven't seen such a warm spring in a long time.
Here are a few blooms from today
Bantam Prince, this is a short little guy with medium sized blooms. The falls are round instead of elongated.
Gimmick. This is a very sweet little iris. The blooms are small but quite distinctive. My photos cannot capture its charm. I got this from another ATPer.
Leopard Print. Another one I cannot capture a good photo of. Every new bloom that opens up is a bit different.
Little Chestnut. This is an older one that I really like. I took these in different light.
Naples Syrup. This is a newer iris and it has been reported that it reblooms a lot during the summer and fall. If so I may need to pot it so I can give it some shade. I do not know if it will always be small but the blooms were tiny. It is sweet and may bloom bigger its second year. It increases quickly.
Nut Ruffles. A little more brown than my photo shows.
Pixie Princess. I may have posted this one already. It is shorter and has medium to small blooms
Scream. For those who need ruffles this one has some.
Snap It Up. This one is different for an SDB. It is a bit small but it makes a good clump and is outstanding with the rim color on the falls matching the standards.
