Louisiana iris can handle the heat really well. They will do well in SE Texas which may even be part of the ancestral species natural range. I'm not sure, but it would certainly be similar. I think they are more suited to the climate of SE Texas than the bearded iris. When I was forced into curtailing the supplemental water for mine, I gave some to my sister who lives in the Houston area. They have thrived with little effort. It's an ideal iris for the Gulf coast areas, I think. Well suited to the growing conditions there.
