As per Oberon's suggestion, I am starting this thread for the peony addicts who live in colder climates. In this way, we will be able to compare the notes.

I live in Toronto, Ontario, US zone 5. Toronto’s climate is modified by its location on the shores of Lake Ontario, and because I live closer to the lake, my garden might be 5b. That is, winters can be a bit milder then in the neighbourhoods farther from the lake. You can find more information on the Toronto temperature zones here:

My peonies have just started showing the first signs of growth. The pictures are taken yesterday (April 25, 2015.)

The TPs have started growing perhaps two weeks ago. Rockii Snow Lotus has just started developing the leaves and flower buds. Guardian of the Monastery is a bit more reluctant. In the backyard, High Noon, Hoki and Kinkaku are even further behind. Sighing!
