We took a look around the Ramapo mountain state forest this afternoon, checking for emerging Cypripedium acaule. And yes, here they are, together with my very favorite and capable Orchid spotter!
As you can see, not much else is up on that mountain, and I would think the acaule are surely still a couple of weeks away from blooming. (Here around Fair Lawn the trees are blooming like crazy, we have a show this year.)
