I don't know what happened. One fall day, I was going along, perfectly fine, and I stumbled into an iris sale and got a few rhizomes. Next thing I know (2 seasons later), I have enjoyed my irises so much, and I NEED more irises. I'm sure nobody here has ever experienced anything like that.
(Ok, maybe I wasn't quite the innocent I make out, but I did plant my first irises last fall.)
Anyhow, as I'm contemplating which irises I really should order, I'm also looking at the size of the bed available for them in my otherwise shady yard, and I do want to still be able to plant some plants that will bloom in the summer and fall. So my thoughts turn to the medians.
I wasn't aware of SDB's before lurking here, but I can see they are totally adorable with luscious colors. Where I'm more confused is with the IB's, MTB's, and BB's. I do have one IB, that seems not to have gotten the message that it is supposed to bloom between the SDB's and TB's, since my tall irises are finishing up and this one just sent up a bloom stalk the other day. So, if I want a middle sized bearded iris that will bloom after the spring bulbs that would be easy to squeeze in where there is no room, which median iris class should I be looking at primarily?
And please, go ahead, enable me with your favorite medians, the ones that are not just gorgeous, but great growers (rebloom would be a bonus).
