Our wild rabbit population tends to run in cycles - builds up for a couple of years, then drops significantly. Seems to be in direct relationship to the coyote population. During a 'rabbit year' I'll see them scampering across the roads and out in our fields, but I've never had a problem with them in my yard. Likely because I always keep a large dog. One time, a misguided neighbor decided to let his two pet rabbits 'free-range' and we did get bunnies in the garden that year (they set up their home in the crawl space below his house, I can only imagine what a mess that became...). The coyotes and/or eagles made short work of those little innocents, though.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
