You might just have a new sport there sir!
I'd have grabbed it in a heart beat too!
In my experience, I'd say it's a tissue culture plant, so that's likely the origin of the mutation, that's just a guess but it's not that uncommon.
Tissue culture plants seem to mutate readily, I'm quite ignorant of why, or even how mass TC labs function, not the same way these home kits do!
Anyways, it seems from what I see that these TC mutants are likely to revert, or not stay true, not sure what the reason is, im sure someone much more knowledgable than myself could explain better.

My experience come from colocasia mostly, which are almost all generated for trade in TC labs, I've found numerous mutants, all manner of mutation... Variegation, leaf shape or texture, patterns, patterns on half the leaf, the other side unaffected or with an entirely different look than the parent plant, meaning 3 dif debt leaf patterns, shape and texture, all on 1 plant... It almost seems to behave like a chimera.
I've found several loads of these plants, where 20 of the 30 plants there will show some easily noticed variation from the parent plant, obviously I knew what they "should" look like so it makes it easy to spot.

Since these plants were "mistakes" and not plants that ran trails and were released by a reputable breeder, just some guys in lab coats... Likely making what they thought was 10000 copies of a plant, when in reality they made 10000 bad copies, possibly from inferior stock, and then in the process of playing god they goofed up... It's quite worrying really...
I'm quite sure it has to with changes to their DNA, more or less chromosomes, or something... Again I'm quite ignorant, and only basing this on my own observations.

Just hope it grows good and stays true and you might be able to name your own cultivar!
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!
