Try googling the name and viewing the images. You'll see that this plant's leaves show variability depending on their stage of growth and do look like your friend's plant. Also, I don't see any open blooms in your photos. The yellow parts are either bracts or calyces. There is a cream flower bud developing in the top-most bract/calyx in your last photo.

Also, consider that your friend's plant is likely stressed from being in a small pot so the leaves are not going to be as large or as green as one planted in the ground.
