I have a strange request: can anyone bring some clay soil for me? The harder and clay-ier the better! Even a pot's-worth, if a couple of you bring some, it will add up! I am trying a clematis again, and they just don't seem to like sandy soil (except Sweet Autumn). They at least survive in my mom's sandy soil, but my yard has swallowed 2 clematis so far. I've bought a jackmanni, which was the rampant clematis at my childhood home with Chicago clay soil. I want it to succeed!
