S. sellovii has a great reputation as a hummingbird plant and it is well-deserved!
One day I watched a male ruby-throated hummingbird work over the blooms twice to make sure he got every drop of nectar, despite the fact that he was surrounded by other prime hummingbird plants like Salvia and Cuphea. Then he moved on to the other plants but, before he zipped off to another area, he checked those S. sellovii blossoms one more time.
They must be really tasty!
They've also used my Sinningia 'Apricot Bouquet' and Chrysothemis pulchella.
I just got Sinningia 'Lovely' so I'm not sure about that one but I suspect the corolla tube may be too long for them like its S. tubiflora parent. We'll see...
I agree, Hummingbirds and Gesneriads are a wonderful combo!
