Oh my. I agree, they do need an application of a general purpose fungicide. I would remove any dead or mushy roots and make sure to clean your tools well to prevent spreading the problem. If they were in the ground, I would make sure to treat that area with fungicide also. As Larry said, do not plant them back in that location. Use a good fast draining soil in containers and keep them in good strong light.
