I've always rooted dormant cuttings taken in winter and stored in the fridge till spring. take woody cuttings around 8 inches long and plant them in deep pots or grow bags 3 or 4 cuttings per pot. put them in the woods out of the sun and in about 2 months you can introduce them to more sun. if you plant them shallow they will dry out. if you put them in the sun they will leaf out too soon. you must establish roots before they leaf out or the cuttings will fail. hope this helps.
