I researched a little bit for you and found this in a houseplant book.
"Dwarf Irises are excellent for growing indoors, producing large blooms in January and February... there are at least 3 species which are well worth cultivating in the house. Plant the bulbs in September and provide plenty of light once the leaves have appeared above the compost. Choose from Iris histrioides major (deep blue, white centres), I. reticulata (purple, yellow centres -- fragrant), and I. danfordiae (yellow -- fragrant)" --The Houseplant Expert, Dr. D.G. Hessayon, 1993, page 96. I know '96 is a bit old, but I hope this information is somewhat helpful.
It doesn't list the species you have and I'm not familiar enough with Irises to know if yours is a dwarf, but if the one you purchased proves to be difficult to grow indoors, I hope those listed help narrow down which Irises do well indoors.
