Hi jgemma! Welcome to ATP! Usually what will work is to plant them in shallow and wide clay containers with drainage holes and with as gritty, very rocky mix, so that if there are downpours, the water will drain out fast. Or divide them in smaller containers, still in a very gritty media, so the pool of rain water as it goes through will not be too much. Succulents have such shallow root systems, so they do not really need to be potted up in very big containers, unless your plant is already a specimen size that will require it.
So if you use cactus mix, add more perlite, pumice or lava rock, that will help. Rain in summer is not too bad, succulents do like some rain too and liquid gold is good, it is rain during colder temps that will really be harder for them to endure. Some would also use something to deflect the rain if you do expect a very heavy downpour, like a plastic sheet propped up like a tent if your forecast will be daily rain for a week. Just have to make sure there is airflow on one side so the succulent does not get too humidified.
Can you upload a photo of your succulents so we have an idea what type you have there. There are some succulents that do not really like too much sun as well.
