Thank you everyone for your comments. I have heard both pros and cons on the subject of salt on asparagus. Love the fresh asparagus and strawberries. Also love sharing them with family and friends.

My Mother, Bless her soul, used salt on her asparagus patch for many, many years. She had a weed and grass free small bed that she enjoyed tremendously. My sister now lives in moms house and is also enjoying the asparagus, too. I have heard that the salt will harden the soil and move into your yard if your asparagus is close to a place you don't want to get hardened. The salt will kill grass and weeds and prevent them from growing but will not harm the asparagus. I don't plan on putting the salt on until I am done picking it for the season. We don't pick ours after the 15 of June. I am putting the grass clippings in between the round patches of asparagus. I don't mind dealing with a few grass seeds that may germinate viruses the many weeds and grass that would be growing without it. My asparagus beds are pretty big in my mind.....
Yard decor, repurposing, and flowers,
