I'm glad you posted this edible... I never wanted to go through the trouble of heeling in a fig overwinter, although I know a few folks who've been doing just that for decades. 'Chicago Hardy' sounds like a relatively low maintenance alternative in my zone. Do you happen to know if it's likely to grow as a single trunk tree or shrub in z6a western Mass?
