Reminds me of my old peach tree! It would make little peaches and then after a while, I'd find little green peaches lying on the ground...something had bitten, then discarded them! Some would make it to be larger, but usually all were gone before being ripe. Wildlife! Eventually borers killed the tree. Now I have a native mulberry by the shed, which produces berries every spring, and I even get to eat some ripe ones before the rest disappear. And pokeweed...the birds eat the berries with my blessing!
Newyorkrita said:I remember planting this tree and then for a while it didn't do much. But now has really taken off and it such a nice cherry tree. It is in my mixed shrub boarder which has lots of bird attracting shrubs. I just naively thought I would have at least some cherries left for me! Grumbling
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
