Thanks, Anna! I had a bromeliad, Bilbergia windii, that also was a Best of Section. Usually it blooms later, but I guess all the rain we had fooled into thinking it was time to bloom. Timing is everything.
I entered four other plants. Three were First Place, Green Thumbs. The fourth one turned over on the way to the show and had visible damage. It got a Second Place. I didn't want to enter it, but it was so unusual, I decided to trim it and see what would happen.
In gratitude, I gave two plant lifters Amorphophallus. They were happy. The third pot lifter (DH) just tolerates my plant addiction. He was lucky to get dinner.
