Looks like you are trying to keep them indoors. Roses are not indoor plants.
If you like them, I'd re-pot them into good potting soil with good drainage, put them outside in semi-shade to harden them off and gradually move them to a site where they will get more light. The general rule of thumb is to provide a site where they will get at least six hours of sunlight.
After re-potting, just keep them moist, not wet, and feed them once they start showing new top growth.
When you buy a plant in a grocery store, it's totally stressed because it hasn't gotten what it needs to thrive for a long time. A friend of mine who ran a miniature rose nursery used to say those roses were already half dead before you bought them.
