We don't have a Fig Forum, Victoria but there are listings for many types of fig in the Plant Database. Just type in Edible Fig to get a list.

There is one that looks like it is hardy in your zone, called Chicago Hardy. Here's the link to that one Common Fig (Ficus carica 'Chicago Hardy')

Most of the rest might be pushing the zone a bit, but maybe in a very sheltered spot like the south side of a building, or with a very generous mulch over the roots every winter you could pull it through.

The other question that lurks is whether you have a long enough summer to actually have the tree ripen fruit. No idea on that one. It might depend upon the year - if spring comes early, no problem.
