I am not sure about this either and not heard of it
but with the cost of chalk here in Ontario and the cost of a bit of bone meal with each of the bulbs and then some 10 10 10 in small doses........I would think this way is cheaper then with the chalk for fertilizer for the bulbs..
I used 10 10 10 here and had to special order it for my lilies this year.....
you just mix it around the bulbs as they are shooting up and a little more or they come into flower....
so far it has worked........
this method is not to used on new bulbs they say
just the bone meal
but will be interesting to see what the smart people say about the chalk on here
