@kssmith, Kevin, you wouldn't have happened to live around Lynnville, IN at one time would you? I used to know a Kevin Smith. I do not know what your signature daylily is, but is it your avatar?
@bluegrassmom, Teresa, I use Adobe Photoshop 13.0 (a gift from my kids) to crop and edit pictures, mostly crop. I saw it at Walmart for around $50. I like to take my pictures using the largest file size available on my camera, so I do need to resize the picture or it takes too long to upload to the site. I like to let my camera do the hard work because I don't like to edit the colors or contrast too much. Over processing makes a photo look just that. But at times, some of the white and yellow daylilies can really look washed out in the sun, so I do use Photoshop to darken them sometimes.
Here is a before and after picture of H. Parfait that I edited with Adobe. Right or wrong, I like to make my pictures look better without over processing. I don't think that I'm exaggerating the true color of the bloom. If I had changed the aperture setting on the camera, it would have looked like the second picture and all I would have to do is crop.
