Azaleas, especially the ones in pots, need to be in the shade all day through the summer months. Spring and fall they might tolerate some direct sun but not at this time of year.

Hot weather will dessicate the leaves and if it's windy that will happen faster.

When you put it into the bigger pot, did you break up the root ball from the old pot somewhat?
