I doubt lilies are nowhere near as many as daylilies. They are trickier to get significant differences one from another. Some strong genetic traits persist, such as yellow throats in white trumpet lilies. The greatest opportunity for variation probably exists with the Asiatic division of lilies. Of course, no blue in true liliums either.
