I live in a historic town in rural Alabama. My own house is 100 years old. The crepe myrtles on old properties around here are called "watermelon pink". And that is the color -- deep pink with a hint of orange. Im not sure how old my crepe myrtle is but I would guess around 50 years at least. Im thinking about expanding my crepe myrtle planting which is next to my driveway into a grove or perhaps a double hedge of mixed crepe myrtles. Im looking for colors that would mix with the watermelon pink. Too many watermelon pinks would be too many for me.
