I wanted to share with all of you a wonderful find: some of our native terrestrial orchids called Spiranthes but I don't know if they are Spiranthes lacera, Spiranthes vernalis, or Spiranthes tuberosa.
I was just walking around in the back yard near the woods' edge and noticed them and upon closer inspection it occurred to me the flower structure looked so very similar to an orchid, so I took several pics.
Because I just have a little Kodak EasyShare 8.2 megapixels, some turned out blurry and some showed well enough, I could post them to get feedback from the orchids cubit and a couple on there confirmed, indeed, they were a Spiranthes.
So in the morning, I'll go out with a magnifying glass to look at the lip as one type has a green spot on it.
So here they are:
Obviously not an orchid but might someone I.D. this for me?
Continuing the ripening of the 'Brown Turkey' figs.
