Remember that Spontaneous Branching (or whatever it's called) on my NOID orange where the 5" branches were growing really close together? In fear of the branches crossing later, I placed a bit of Styrofoam between the branches to encourage it to separate. Today I noticed a small crack on one of the branches.

On Gigi's grafting thread, I questioned how to manage this type of crack to preserve the shape of the tree. Do I pretend it is a graft and tape it up? Now I understand I can use any tape when before when I repaired a crack I made it air-tight with electrical tape. I also cleaned the wound.

This small crack leaked latex right away but it is a small just-bigger-than-a-hairline crack. I have removed the Styrofoam. How should I handle it? How do I keep the pieces intact? Can I get them to grow back together like a graft? TIA
