Here is what it says...the instructions about how to use this Forum:
"Post a picture and write a description of your mystery plant, and we'll let you know what the plant is!"

The OP instead gave only the opportunity to make random guesses and he or she said a photo will be posted after we identify the item.

I went back are re-read every post. We do not know where this 'plant' was seen; not the state, zone or country. There is no mention of a 'workplace'. There is no location, no photo. We have very little information to go on. In my opinion we are simply doing the best we can to help to identify something that was called a 'plant' but the description better fits a 'fungus. The OP bypassed the instructions right from the beginning, but disregarding that little thing as it could be a newbie thing, several of us have posted links the OP can view to verify for himself or herself.

Here on the ID thread we usually have a pretty good time and I don't see anything that would be considered offensive to anyone. We have fun here...even when we guess wrong. Sorry, but no one said anything wrong with the possible exception of someone who had posted about the lake effect weather (we had been discussing that on a different thread) but I see that Moonhowl had edited their post to remove the weather report an has apologized not once, but twice to the OP...no, three times. Several posts have been edited which changes the meaning of the remaining posts; with all the omissions the OP may not understand what is left to read when/if he/she returns to check the thread.

We welcomed the OP, we, we offered our suggestions; supplied links; Bamira who has English not as his first language even joined in to say that on some forums there is a fee of $1 for plant ID. Someone else mentioned 50 cents for each correct guess. Pretty much we have said all we can say until the OP comes back to show us a photo of the item (plant/fungus) that he/she needs identified or to check out our links.

When All Things Plants stops being fun it's time to stop. No one said anything with the intention of offending the OP who may well be a 50 year old who is new to forums or could just as easily be a 10 year old kid waiting for someone to say exactly what this fungus looks like Whistling but, this being a family-friendly site, I'm not touching that one!

If you have time to spare, go back and read through every post in every thread on the Plant ID Forum and you'll see it's a fun place to visit.
I'm guessing if the thread is so bad that Dave could erase all the responses and the question can be like new. Thank You!
