Omigosh you guys -- you're making me laugh. Thank you -- thank you. 39, eh???? Not likely!!!! Rolling my eyes.

And no -- the Hub did not take me out to dinner -- my sister and niece and my brother and my Mom all shared a dinner with us, and my brother made me a birthday cake with my childhood nick-names on it. It was a lovely evening spent with the people that I love.

But it was a weekend of very mixed emotions. On Friday, our grand-daughter Kristin died after a long battle with breast cancer. She was only 38 years old. Put my birthday in real perspective. We were not able to travel to Chicago for the wake and funeral, which makes us both very sad. She will be buried tomorrow. A chapter of our lives is closed, and I am so sad for her husband, children and parents.

Life is good. We're not guaranteed a single day, are we? And we so need to be grateful for every day -- even with our aches and pains, and our Iris losses, and our issues with rain/no rain.

And I am -- grateful, that is. I planted some of Dee's rhizomes this afternoon. Planting rhizomes, or seeds or whatever, is an act of faith that there will be a tomorrow. And that we will be there to see it.

Thank you for being my friends.
