I was out on my porch this afternoon when out of the corner of my eye I saw this bird fly over to the waters edge behind my next door neighbors house. At first I thought it was a juvenile Ibis until I realized it didn't have the curved bill. Then I thought possibly a juvenile Sandhill Crane but nope, once I downloaded my pictures I knew that wasn't right either. It was driving me crazy until I finally got out my bird book and saw that it was a Limpkin.
I looked farther down and spotted an Anhinga coming out of the water into another neighbor's yard, where it stayed for awhile while it was drying it's wings:
~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt!
~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot!
