We took the sandbox my husband had put in our back gardens for our grandson about 6 years ago and converted it to a veggie garden. We dug out pails and pails of sand and added bags and bags of garden soil. My husband then put some edging up around the edges to discourage some of the small critters we find in the yard from time to time. We planted a large tomato plant, 2 cucumber plants (the first of the fruit measured 18" in length!). Spanish Onions, carrots, radishes and parsley. The carrots are growing about the length of large mini carrots and then are all knotted and curled. The radishes grew about 3' tall with a tiny red mark where the bulb should have been. We've only had 2 other cucumbers to date but another is almost ready and more flowers are coming. We have several peppers on the go and several tomatoes although we've only had one that was ready to pick and that was weeks ago. I pulled an onion the other day because the leaves were folded over on the ground but it was only about 1" around.
