Those are nice healthy plants. 
Thanks Lin, for the pictures and explanation. I wonder if I haven't mistakenly cut mine off in the past. I remember the stems were long and leafless, but they did have a growth on them that didn't look normal to me. Oh well, at least now I have an idea why I haven't seen blooms.
